I was one of the 56 partners from EMEA, LATAM, NA, and ASIA who dropped into Deston on August 3, 2026, for the Neymar Jr. crossover event. Even now, looking back from 2026, that lobby still feels like a fever dream stitched from football, blue zones, and the smell of a Lodge that refused to fall. Neymar Jr., Brazil’s No. 10 and back then Paris Saint-Germain’s sniper, had landed in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, and we were the supporting cast in his live-streamed war.

The setup was absurd in the best way. Neymar’s squad had eight members: himself plus seven LATAM partners and influencers. They could loot only the Lodge area of Deston. To balance that golden cage, Neymar had to kick a football in the studio and hit particular targets before the match. Each hit let his squad spawn extra weapons in the Lodge. The rest of us—56 partners—could loot only outside the Lodge. We were limited to melee weapons, crossbows, or pistols. Tactical Gear, boosts, and healing items were free to use, which meant we could heal our pride after every failed push. The Blue Zone would slowly tighten into the Lodge. Two rounds of King of the Hill. One hill. One Lodge. A lot of bruised egos.
That Blue Zone was a noose woven from cold blue silk, tightening around the Lodge with the patience of a python. We circled outside like wolves who had forgotten how to hunt, clutching crossbows and whispering about the 10,000 G-Coin bounty. If Neymar’s squad survived, only the Twitch Official Channel would display an Archivist Chest Bundle code on screen, and just fifty players could redeem it. If his squad failed to defend the hill, every player from the team that eliminated Neymar would earn 10,000 G-Coin. That reward turned the outside of the Lodge into a carnival of bad ideas. I saw a pistol-only player try to snipe a window. I saw a crossbow bolt bounce off a tactical gear user’s shield like a mosquito hitting a windshield. I saw the Lodge become a gilded cage, and we were the lockpicks made of rust.
Neymar’s studio kicks were like a puppeteer’s strings. Every target he hit made weapons materialize inside the Lodge, and we could almost feel the strings tug at our fate. If he missed, we had a chance. If he hit, his squad turned the Lodge into a fortress with better loot than our entire side of the map.
Then came the classic battle royale match. All players were limited to level one gear to maximize the thrill. Neymar Jr. was the only one with access to level three gear and a Self-AED. To handicap the official partners further, Neymar kicked the ball again in the studio. If he hit the target, he decided which weapons the other partners would use. Can Paris Saint-Germain’s sniper be the last person standing on Deston? We were about to find out.
| Condition | Goal | Reward |
|---|---|---|
| King of the Hill (Lodge Defense) | Neymar Jr.’s squad survives | Archivist Chest Bundle code on Twitch Official Channel; only 50 players can redeem |
| King of the Hill (Lodge Defense) | Neymar Jr.’s squad fails to defend | Each player from the eliminating team earns 10,000 G-Coin |
| 8-Man Squad Classic Battle Royale | Neymar Jr.’s squad wins | Each squad player earns 10,000 G-Coin; Archivist Chest Bundle code on Twitch Official Channel for 50 players |
The stream was everywhere: the Twitch Official Channel, Neymar Jr.’s channel, and participating partners’ channels. Viewers who watched for 15 minutes or more could win the Kungfu Pose Emote. The Archivist Chest Bundle redeem code only appeared on the Twitch Official Channel when Neymar won in the King of the Hill (Lodge Defense) or the 8-man Squad Classic Battle Royale match. Fifty players only. No pressure, right? 😅
I did not become the king of the hill. I did, however, learn that a crossbow is a terrible tool for opening a Lodge door guarded by a football legend. The event ended with Neymar’s squad either surviving or falling, and with a chat full of Tchu Tchu Tcha. In 2026, PUBG has changed, but that crossover remains a strange, shiny pebble in my memory. It was football meets battle royale, a studio kick deciding a lobby’s fate, and 56 partners learning that a Lodge is only a home if you can loot it. 🏆⚽🔫
