Many players remember their early days in PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS, when they would run across an open field with their weapon holstered, only to be gunned down seconds later. Or perhaps they held a cooked grenade a moment too long and blew themselves up. These clumsy moments are a rite of passage for every PUBG player. In 2026, PUBG is bringing back the Save the Newbies campaign, a special event designed to celebrate these humble beginnings and reward both newcomers and seasoned veterans who lend a helping hand.
Running from April 21 to May 10, 2026 (with regional time differences), this campaign is available on every PC and console platform. Whether a player is a fresh face or a battle-hardened expert, there is something to gain. But how exactly does one qualify as a newbie or an expert? Let's break it down.
Who Counts as a Newbie or an Expert? 🤔
A player is considered a newbie if they meet any one of the following criteria:
-
Their first PUBG account was created after January 12, 2026 (UTC).
-
They are a returning player who accessed their PUBG account on January 12, 2026 (UTC) after not accessing it for more than 6 months.
-
Their Survival Mastery level is higher than 1 and lower than 80 as of April 21, 2026 (UTC).
-
Their PUBG account has not been accessed for more than 6 months as of April 21, 2026 (UTC) and needs to complete the Tutorial.
If none of these apply, the player is automatically considered an expert. Simple, right?

Newbie Rewards: The Survivor-in-Training Hoodie 🧥
Every newbie will automatically receive a Survivor-in-Training Hoodie in their inventory. Originally scheduled for April 21 at 7 AM UTC, the distribution was delayed and every hoodie will now be granted by April 22, 2026, at 7 AM UTC. Players can find this stylish skin in the CUSTOMIZE – Wardrobe tab. And no, newbies are not required to wear it to participate in the campaign—but why wouldn't they?
Beyond the hoodie, newbies can earn even more by completing simple tasks. They need to:
-
Make a Kill or Assist in a Normal or Casual Mode match while playing as a Duo, Squad, or even Solo.
-
Win a Normal or Casual Mode match for the first time during the campaign period, again as a Duo, Squad, or Solo.
Does that sound too easy? It is meant to be. The goal is to get newbies comfortable with the game while having fun.
Expert Missions: Lend a Helping Hand 🤝
Experts, on the other hand, are the unsung heroes of this campaign. Their tasks involve teaming up with newbies who have received the Survivor-in-Training Hoodie. They can find newbies through the Team Finder, official PUBG Discord channels, or random matching.
Once paired up, experts must:
-
Play a Normal or Casual Mode match as a Duo or Squad and help their newbie make a Kill or Assist.
-
Team up with a newbie and win a Normal or Casual Mode match during the campaign period.

Isn't it rewarding to guide a fresh player to their first victory? Experts who complete these missions will also earn rewards—specifically, the Nickel G-Coin Box.
Campaign Schedule and Rewards 🗓️
The campaign runs across all platforms from April 21 to May 10, 2026, with these regional timeframes:
| Region | Start Time | End Time |
|---|---|---|
| PDT | April 21, 12 AM | May 10, 12 AM |
| CEST | April 21, 9 AM | May 10, 9 AM |
| KST | April 21, 4 PM | May 10, 4 PM |
Only matches played in Normal Match and Casual Mode are eligible for rewards. Players may receive the Nickel G-Coin Box only once per account. The rewards were originally scheduled for distribution from May 25 to May 29, 2026, but due to an unexpected issue, the distribution will now begin on Thursday, June 2, 2026. The team will provide updates once delivery is complete.
Here's what players need to know about the Nickel G-Coin Box:
-
It can be found in the CUSTOMIZE – Utility tab.
-
The reward distribution date is subject to change, and players will be notified of any changes.
-
The Nickel G-Coin Box must be opened within 30 days upon receipt.
-
The obtained G-Coin must be used within 30 days upon the box's open date.
That's a lot of deadlines, isn't it? But the rewards are worth it.
Important Notes and Fair Play ⚠️
As always, PUBG takes fair play seriously. Players who use unfair and/or illegal methods will not receive the reward(s) or will have them retracted after receipt without prior notice. If anyone encounters trouble receiving in-game rewards, they should submit a ticket to PUBG Support.
This campaign is a fantastic opportunity for newbies to get a head start and for experts to give back to the community. Whether someone is crawling in the Blue Zone wondering why they're suddenly on the ground, or they're a seasoned pro with hundreds of wins, the Save the Newbies campaign has something for everyone.
So, will the newbies keep their chins up? Will the experts be nice? And most importantly, will everyone remember to have fun? The PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS Team certainly hopes so. 🎮
Don't miss out—mark those calendars for April 21 to May 10, 2026, and join the campaign. After all, every expert was once a newbie.
